I’m saying “a few thoughts” today for a very practical reason…. namely, that I am moving in a few days, about 3 hours north, back to territory thar has been “home” in the past. So my time is mostly spent seeing a few clients and packing, packing, packing. There simply isn’t time for the process of reflecting and creating that a thoughtful blog requires…

Change as a Personal Choice

For me, this is a welcome change overall, although I have some sadness about it for family reasons. So I am approaching the change in good spirits, looking forward to being back in some familiar and well-loved territory and with some long-time friends.

AND … the process of packing and moving is STRESSFUL! I am, as they say, “not as young as I used to be!” In spite of that, moving is my choice, for which I am grateful.

Change on a Collective Level

The potential Changes we seem to be facing on a collective level are very different…

They include Climate and Weather changes, which are stunningly destructive for the natural world and for human beings. And may well get worse.

There are Political changes, both in the U.S. and around the planet. I won’t go into the trends now, but if we pay any attention to news, we can’t avoid them. And the results – short-term and long-term – are unknown. Particularly, in this country where I live, we don’t know what changes may be brought by the looming Election – and some of them, for the people this blog and website are most likely to be addressing, would be challenging, and potentially terrifying.

And of course, there are potential Economic changes, Social changes, and more. Is anyone else surprised at how quickly AI has become a regular presence and Credit Fraud has become a common threat?

 Living with Change

In this very brief reflection, I am not saying anything new. But this is what is on the minds of many. Perhaps it’s true that the rate of change is increasing on the planet. We may have to get used to it? learn to live with it? become more skillful in navigating this rapidly changing planet? And that all seems quite possible, regardless of the directions that change is taken in various places on the planet. Some seem to celebrate it, others dread and resist it….

So it seems to me that in the context of major Changes, we are facing Questions… and we will somehow need to face many of them together.  Individually, we don’t know the answers – they need to be explored together, and we will all need to find our way with some degree of togetherness. There are people who have been dedicating years to exploring possible answers to these collective challenges, and we need to pay attention, to listen and learn. Our responses may be on a small scale, of course, but we need to pay attention and find our way to new strategies and practices. To me, this feels inescapable.

Don’t we need to pay more attention – and together, search for and hopefully find creative ways to respond?
